INDIANOLA, Iowa — Dani Marquez made it a one-goal game early in the second half but Nebraska Wesleyan scored three times down the stretch to pull away for a 5-1 win over the Simpson women's soccer team Wednesday night at Buxton Stadium.
The Prairie Wolves (4-6-1, 1-2) got goals from five different players in the win, outshooting Simpson 24-5 on the evening. Bella Carnazzo and Sierra Denny connected on first-half goals with Denny's holding up as the game winner.
Marquez collected a loose ball in the box after a hard shot from Victoria Jordan in the 48th minute, pulling the Storm (3-9, 0-3) within 2-1. Annie Platt tacked on an insurance tally in the 54th minute, though, taking a corner from Natalie Graves on the far post to make it a 3-1 game.
Notes and Numbers
• Zoe Seiler made her fourth straight start in goal for the Storm, making nine saves. She owns a 2.29 goals against average during the stretch.
• Marquez has scored three goals in the last two games after finding the back of the net twice in Simpson's 8-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan on Monday.
