Storm drop heartbreaker to Luther

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Maggie Anderson scored the game's only goal in the final minutes as the Simpson women's soccer team fell to Luther 1-0 on a wet, cold Tuesday evening at Buxton Stadium.

The game was delayed for 1 hour, 13 minutes early in the second half due to lightning in the area.

Anderson converted on an open-net goal in the 86th minute for the Norse (6-6, 3-1 Iowa Conference). Meredith Arpey sent a cross into the box that was deflected, allowing Anderson to take advantage of a fortuitous bounce to score the game-winner.

The Storm (4-10, 1-4) managed just three shots against the stingy Luther defense. Goalkeeper Zoe Seiler made nine saves to keep the Storm in the game until the final minutes.
