Strong Dutch offense too much for the Storm

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Central scored six first-half goals and the Simpson women's soccer team dropped their Iowa Conference opener 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Dutch (8-1-0, 1-0-0) outshot the Storm (2-6-0, 0-1-0) 36-2 while scoring three pairs of goals — each set in less than three minute spans of each other — throughout the first half.

Central got on the board early after a shot by Jackie Sunderman got into the arms of Riley Adams who fought hard to keep the ball from crossing the backline but wasn't successful. Central continued to test the goalkeeper in the first half, outshooting Simpson 22-1 to score all but one of their goals.

Sunderman's goal in the 4th minute was immediately followed by a goal in the 7th minute from twenty yards out by Kallie Holte. Elise Askelsen, Olivia Denham, Baylee Kivett and Felicia Roppe also found the back of the net in the 17th, 20th, 34th and 35th minute, respectively, to give Central a 6-0 advantage in the first period.

Olivia Denham scored her second goal of the day in the 57th minute to seal the win. Adams finished the day with 16 saves.
