Simpson's McChesney earns NWCA All-American honor

CORALVILLE, Iowa -- Simpson College wrestling junior Dylan McChesney earned National Wrestling Coaches Association All-American honors at the NWCA National Championships on Friday. McChesney is the first All-American for the Storm since Dustin Brewer and Brett Christensen were NCAA Division III All-Americans in 2006.

Eighth-ranked McChesney is currently in the hunt for a third-place finish in the 125-pound division with a 4-1 record through day one. McChesney won his opening match in a 2:31 fall before dropping his next to move to the consolation bracket. He returned to the win column with a first-round pin (0:37) over Carthage's Sebastian Rosales.

In his next bout, McChesney tallied a 15-0 technical fall against Augustana's Ellex Williams. The Northglenn, Colorado native secured his spot on the All-American list by earning another first-round fall (2:24), this time coming against Augburg's Justin Stauffacher, the No. 6-ranked wrestler in the weight class.

Junior Syler Langley was knocking on the door of All-American status, but fell just short at 174 pounds. Langley dropped his first bout, but won the next three to land in the final 12. All three of his triumphs were by decision.

Sophomore Robert Silva recorded two wins at 157 pounds for Simpson. Silva began the day with a pin before dropping his next match to move to the consolation bracket. He collected a 6-1 decision in his third match, but ran into a ranked opponent to end his day.

Josh Bower (141), Dalton Cockman (165) and Colton Kinnison (285) each had a victory to close out their sophomore campaigns. Kinnison tallied a second-round pin to highlight his day.
