Storm wrestling defeat Nebraska Wesleyan
LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Simpson College wrestling team hit the mat for the first time this season on Saturday and split its matches at the Nebraska Wesleyan Triangular.
The Storm won 29-21 over the host Prairie Wolves and dropped a close-knit 22-19 bout to Buena Vista.
Simpson began its afternoon against the Beavers and earned five victories to start their season. Dylan McChesney (125), Josh Bower (141), Robert Silva (157), Dalton Cockman (165) and Colton Kinnison (285) all collected a triumph. Bower was the lone Storm wrestler to earn a pin during the match. McChesney prevailed in a 3-2 match to start his junior slate with a victory.
Against Nebraska Wesleyan, Simpson produced four pins coming from Shyler Langley (174), McChesney, Cockman and Kinnison. McChesney tallied the quickest fall in 1:15 for the Storm, while Langley was the lone grappler to earn his beyond the first period.
Noah Kirtley secured the other victory for Simpson in a demanding 22-3 match. The win was Kirtley's first in an American Rivers Conference match at 174-pounds. Freshman Andrew Wolff came close to earning his first career win for Simpson in an 8-7 defeat at 184-pounds.

The Storm hosts their own triangular next weekend when No. 2 Wartburg and No. 14 Coe visit on Saturday, Jan. 30. Competition will take place in Cowles Fieldhouse starting at 1:30 p.m.
