Brus and Barber get pair of wins in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Junior 141-pounder Caleb Brus and senior 184-pounder Curtis Barber each won a pair of matches, but Simpson dropped both duals at Williams College Monday evening. Southern Maine defeated the Storm 28-12 and No. 14 Williams notched a 32-16 win.

Brus improves to a team-best 15-3 record on the year while Barber picked up his sixth and seventh wins of the season.

A graduate of Creston High School, Brus got the Storm (1-6, 0-1 IIAC) on the board in its first match of the day against Southern Maine with a 5-2 decision over Matt Ulrich.

Leading 6-3, the Huskies rattled off four straight wins before Barber earned his first victory of the day. The Winterset, Iowa native took a 7-5 decision from Nick Laurino. Senior heavyweight Sam Collora pinned Ryan Stanton to close the first match of the evening.

In the final match of the evening, Simpson took on the 14th-ranked Ephs with similar results. Jeff Sand earned a 7-6 decision at 133 before Brus pinned Chris Simmons, giving Simpson a 9-6 lead after the 141-pound match.

The Storm's next win came at the hands of Barber, who took a major decision over Kyle Martin, 17-3.

Simpson stays in Williamstown for another day as the Storm will take part in the Williams Invitational tomorrow. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. EST.
