Vogel earns second IIAC honor
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Brad Vogel won the 100 meter dash at the Monmouth Fighting Scot Invitational last Saturday on the way to his second Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honor of the outdoor season.
Vogel, a senior from Donnellson, Iowa, broke the tape in 10.96 seconds in the 100, his fastest wind-legal effort of the season. He added a seventh-place showing in the 200 meters, finishing in 22.28, also his fastest wind-legal time of the season.
Vogel ran the lead-leg on Simpson's 4x100-meter relay team that ran a season-best time of 43.28.
The winner of the 55-meter dash at the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships, Vogel enters the outdoor championships with the fastest time in the 100 and 200. He ran a wind-aided 10.66 in the 100 at the Central Open and a 21.85 in the 200 at the same meet.
The 2014 Iowa Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships begin Thursday, May 8 at Carlson Stadium in Decorah.
