Track & Field teams tune up for IIAC Championships at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Simpson track and field teams tuned up for the Iowa Conference Championships at the Monmouth Fighting Scot Invitational last weekend, winning two events and turning in nine, top-five finishes.

Vogel, Frazier lead men's team
Brad Vogel won the 100-meter dash and Isaac Frazier added three, top-five efforts as the men's team placed fifth of 11 teams.

Vogel ran 10.96 to break the tape in the 100, his fastest wind-legal time of the season. He added a seventh-place effort in the 200 (22.28) and helped the 4x100-meter relay team to a season-best time of 43.28. Vogel led off the relay, followed by Corbin Clark, Jordan Beem and Reid Ryan.

Frazier had a busy day, competing in the 110-meter hurdles, high jump and triple jump. The multi-talented freshman placed third in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 41-feet, 6 1/2 inches. He cleared 6-4 1/4 in the high jump to place fourth and ran 16.38 in the 100 hurdles to take fifth.

Simpson also got top-five efforts from Trevor McKee in the 400 hurdles (3rd, 57.19) and Brice Sheeder in the 400 (5th, 50.45).

Fleshner, Eyerly pace women's team
Bayley Fleshner won the 100 hurdles for the third time this season and Jessie Eyerly took second in the 800 to lead Simpson to an eighth place finish of 11 teams.

Fleshner broke the tape in 15.21 for her third win of the outdoor season, posting the lone top finish for the women's team. She also threw the javelin, placing 11th with a career-best toss of 86-11.

Eyerly, a freshman, ran a season-best time of 2:22.15 to take second in the 800 meters.

Simpson's other top-five effort came from Hannah Moulds, who placed fourth in the long jump with a career-best effort of 16-5 3/4.
