Vogel named IIAC Performer of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Brad Vogel won the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the Central Open en route to earning Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, April 20.
A senior from Donnellson, Iowa, Vogel won the 100 in 10.66 and the 200 in 21.85, both tops in the conference this season. His time in the 100 ranks second in school history and is the fastest by a Simpson runner since 1984. His effort in the 200 is third all-time at Simpson and the fastest since 1993.
Although his time in the 100 wasn't wind-legal and doesn't qualify for consideration in the national list, his time in the 200 ranks 27th in Division III.
Vogel and his teammates will compete at Simpson's own Kip Janvrin Invitational on Thursday and Friday, April 24-25.
