Simpson men roll against Crown

INDIANOLA - Zack Barragan scored 15 of his career-high 22 points in the second half, Simpson shot nearly 60 percent from the field and the Storm beat Crown 115-49 on Friday night at Cowles Fieldhouse.

JJ Vanderheiden also tallied a career-high with 20 points and seven rebounds for the Storm (3-5), who shot 58.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

Simpson's 115 points are the most since the team scored 127 in a 139-127 loss to Grinnell in 2006. The point total is the highest against a non-Grinnell opponent since beating Dubuque 122-84 in 1998.

Barragan connected on 6 of 8 3s in the game, leading Simpson in a 13-for-26 effort as a team. Dave Fouch went 4-for-6 from distance, scoring a career-high 16. Matt Fouch added 12 points and Elijah Knox handed out eight assists to go with seven points and six boards.

After falling behind 4-0 to start the game, Simpson outscored Crown 51-19 the remainder of the first half en-route to a 51-23 halftime lead.

At one point in the first half, the Fouch twins went on a 13-0 run by themselves. Dave accounted for 10 points in the 2 minute, 30 second stretch that was part of an 18-0 Simpson run.

Simpson enjoys a week off for finals before welcoming Nebraska Wesleyan to Cowles Fieldhouse in a 4 p.m. tipoff Saturday, Dec. 18.
