No. 6: Men's basketball upsets Dubuque in IIAC Tournament

The end to the 2011-12 regular season was a disappointing one for the Storm men's basketball team.

After an up and down season which included a 16-point win over eventual conference champion Coe, Simpson dropped its final two games and limped into the postseason as the No. 6 seed in the Iowa Conference Tournament. Simpson then had to travel to third-seeded Dubuque, a team that had beaten the Storm twice during the regular season.

If that wasn't enough, Simpson was playing without the services of Cornelius Mosby, the team's starting center and the leading rebounder in the league. On paper, it looked as though the Spartans would have no problem advancing to the second round.

But there is a reason games aren't played on paper.

Riding a 28-point performance from Zack Barragan and getting 21 of Elijah Knox's career-high 23 points in the second half and overtime, the Storm shocked the Spartans 95-87 in the first double overtime game in conference tournament history.
