
Simpson falls at top-seeded Dubuque in A-R-C Semifinal
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Simpson College women's volleyball team saw its tournament run and season come to an end on Thursday evening in a 3-0 loss at top-seeded Dubuque in the American Rivers Conference Semifinals.
The Storm finish the year with a 10-21 overall record, while the Spartans (22-8) advance to the tournament championship where they will face No. 3-seed Coe.
SET SUMMARY
- Simpson went on a 13-5 midway through the first set to take a 19-17 lead, but Dubuque scored eight unanswered for a 25-19 win and 1-0 lead.
- The Spartans pulled away late again in the second set, going on a 5-1 run to lead 21-16 before winning the last four rallies for another 25-19 victory.
- Fueled by three blocks by Peyton Mitchell, Simpson got off to a 9-5 lead in set three. Back-to-back kills from Teria Campbell and Lauren Roman pushed the visitor's lead to five, 11-6, before an 11-2 run by the Spartans put them ahead 17-13. The regular season conference champions closed out the night with a 25-17 win.
