CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Morgan Petsche and Shalyn Kinney scored first-half goals and Coe beat the Simpson women's soccer team 2-0 in the final game of the season Tuesday.
Petsche scored from 10 yards out in the ninth minute and Kinney knocked one in from 20 yards out in the 21st as the Kohawks (12-4-2, 4-3-1 Iowa Conference) clinched the fifth seed in the upcoming Iowa Conference Tournament.
An injury-plagued Simpson squad managed just two shots against the stingy Coe defense, as Dani Marquez and Payton Atwood each put a shot on frame. Riley Adams went the distance between the posts, making four saves for the Storm (4-14, 1-7).
Simpson seniors Riley Adams, Casey Reisen and Maddie Simmons took the pitch for the final time in their career.
