Storm take fourth at IIAC Championship

INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Simpson women's golf team finished fourth at the 2017 Iowa Conference Championship from Indianola Country Club, closing the weekend with a 352 to hold off Dubuque by six strokes.

Simpson held steady throughout the weekend, starting in fourth and finishing in fourth. Wartburg won the team title by 28 strokes over Central, followed by Luther in third.

Hannah Gordon fired the Storm's lowest round of the day, making four birdies to card an 84 and finish the tournament tied for 15th. Lydia Martin closed the weekend with an 88 on Saturday, tying for 13th in the individual standings.

Courtney Mabeus and Kelsa Berkland each shot 90 on Saturday while Haley Booton carded a 92.

Each player in Simpson's lineup shaved strokes from Friday's third round, benefitting from better - although far from perfect - weather in the final round of the tournament. The Storm cut 24 strokes from round three to round four.
