Martin, Gordon lead Storm on first day of IIAC Championship
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The duo of Lydia Martin and Hannah Gordon are in top-10 contention after the first 18 holes at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course and the Simpson women's golf team sits in fourth after the first round of the Iowa Conference Championship.
Martin carded a 79 Friday and Gordon turned in an 81 to lead the Storm, who shot 338 as a team, 10 strokes behind third-place Central. Wartburg shot 320 for a five-stroke lead on the field going into the second round.
Martin is tied for fifth after firing her lowest round since shooting a 78 in the first meet of the season. Gordon — who posted Simpson's lowest stroke average on the season — is tied for seventh.

The Storm will tee off in the second group Saturday morning at Pheasant Ridge.
