Women's golf wins Central Invitational

PELLA, Iowa – Led by three golfers in the top four, the Simpson women's golf team won the Central Fall Invitational at Bos Landen Golf Club on Saturday.

Simpson beat Central by 19 strokes and Grinnell by 24 to take the title at the three-team tournament.

Stacy Bergeson, Jennifer Gaffney and Jessica Lerdal placed second, third and fourth, respectively to propel the Storm to the win. Bergeson shot 165 (81-84), Gaffney was right behind at 166 (82-84) and Lerdal finished at 169 (86-83).

Freshman Coltyn Hunter (99-100-199) and Molly Hill (103-107-210) rounded out the varsity scores while Holly Baiotto (93-99-192) and Lesley Pearey (99-116-215) competed as individuals.

Simpson is off until Monday, Sept. 16 when it hosts the Simpson Invitational at Indianola Country Club.
