Storm finish third at A-R-C Championships, name three to All-Conference Team

DECORAH, Iowa -- Spencer Moon and Harry Dudley earned their second-straight all-conference honor, Louden Foster ran a career-best to capture his first, and the Simpson College men's cross country team finished in third place at the American Rivers Conference Championships on Saturday morning.

This is the second year in a row the Storm men have had three all-conference performers and finished third as a team, two feats that before last season hadn't happened since 1988 and 1990, respectively.

"Our men performed at a high level today and it was great to see them race so well," said Heath Moenck, Head Cross Country Coach. "For Spencer, Harry and Louden to earn all-conference honors in this tough of a league is incredible. To place third as a team is very exciting."

Wartburg captured its fourth-straight team title with seven runners in the top-15, including Joe Freiburger who won his third-straight individual title while setting a new course record in the process. Loras totaled 58 points for second place in A-R-C standings and had three all-conference performers along with the Storm. Central and Luther each had one top-15 runner to round out the 2021 All-A-R-C Team.

Simpson's top-two runners finished within seconds of each other as Moon crossed the finish line in 25:28.9 to place sixth and Dudley concluded his race in 25:32.5 for a seventh-place finish. Foster took half a second off his previous career-best performance to find a spot in the top-15 with a 25:54.3 race in his first A-R-C Championship.

To round out the Storm's top-five, senior Shane Breheny (33rd) and sophomore Andrew Klein (37th) both made significant leaps in the individual standings from a year ago; Breheny finished 21 spots ahead of last year's placing and Klein moved up 25 spots.
