Storm perform well at Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational

WEST SALEM, Wis. -- Spencer Moon and Harry Dudley each posted career-best times to lead the Simpson College men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by Wis.-La Crosse on Friday evening.

Simpson, the No. 8 team in the Midwest Region, tallied 113 points to finish ahead of conference foes Central and Luther which rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the region. The Storm also bested Gustavus Adolphus, the No. 7 team in the North Region.

"It was a great night for our men," head coach Heath Moenck said. "After a disappointing outing two weeks ago, it was great to see them respond the way they did. Our 1-2 punch of Spencer Moon and Harry Dudley ran incredibly well. To place fourth in a field as talented as this one was a great accomplishment."

Moon broke the 25-minute marker for the first time in his career to earn fourth place in the field of 380 runners. The junior finished the 8k in 24:54.78, erasing over 12 seconds off his previous best-mark set in Simpson's last outing.

Dudley also clocked a career-best time for a top-15 performance. Dudley finished the course in 25:15.21 to place 13th overall. Louden Foster (31), Noah Nelsen (35) and Ryan Courtney (39) rounded out the team's top-five.
