Patterson named USTFCCCA Midwest Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS - The awards continue to roll in for Simpson star track and field athlete Ulysses Patterson after the senior was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Field Athlete of the Year on Thursday.

Fresh off his third All-American honor at the NCAA Indoor National Championships last week, Patterson was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Patterson broke the school record in the heptathlon after scoring 5,021 points at the A-R-C Indoor Championships. He was named the A-R-C Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the heptathlon.

At the NCAA National Championships, Patterson finished eighth overall, earning first team All-American honors with a score of 4,998 points. The senior was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team earlier this year.
