Storm roll in final meet of the calendar year
PELLA, Iowa - There was no shortage of outstanding performances for the Storm at the Dutch Holiday Preview, highlighted by Kendrick Achebe and Joseph Sams sitting atop the podium in their respective events.
Achebe broke the 6.90 second barrier in the 60m dash, becoming only the second Storm to do so, winning the event with a time of 6.89 seconds. He moved into second place in school history in the event, and sits just 0.06 seconds behind Corey Carrell's 1995 record. Joseph Sams earned fourth in the record books with his 35.90 mark in the 300m, winning the event as well.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Kendrick Achebe continued to inch closer to setting the school record in the 60m dash, becoming only the second Storm ever to break the 6.90 barrier.
- Joseph Sams dominated in the 300m dash, winning gold and placing fourth best in school history.
- Ulysses Patterson and Johny Amina finished third and fourth respectively in the high jump, but both will enter the top-10 in school history with a mark of 1.96m.
