Patterson named first team All-American; Latcham earns second team nod

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Simpson track and field program sent three athletes to the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, and came home with three All-Americans.

Ulysses Patterson added his third All-American award to his mantle, taking eighth overall in the heptathlon. Clarke Latcham finished 15th in the heptathlon, and Kendrick Achebe also placed 15th in the 60m dash to earn second team All-American honors.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

Patterson brought home first team All-American honors in the heptathlon after scoring 4,998 points over the seven events.
Patterson saved his best performance for the final event, earning second place in the 1000m with a time of 2:44.22 minutes, which gave the senior 827 points, securing the final spot on the first team.
Clarke Latcham collected his first All-American nod as well, finishing 15th in the heptathlon with 4,545 points.
Latcham's highest finish came in the high jump, placing seventh in the event, while his most points came from the 60m hurdles, where he earned 766 points with a 8.87 second time.
Achebe earned his first career All-American honors, being named to the second team, after finishing 15th overall in the 60m dash.
His 6.83 seconds was the second fastest time in school history, only to his school record 6.81 set less than a week ago.
