Moon lowers his 5K record in Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Simpson College men's track and field team sent five runners to the UW-Platteville Invitational to compete in the 5000 meter run on Friday night.

Spencer Moon paced the Storm with a fifth place finish in the event, lowering his own school record by eight seconds in the process. He previously set the record at Simpson's 15th annual Kip Janvrin Open in 2021 with a time of 14:26.13. At the time, it was the program's fastest mark in 37 years.

Moon's time of 14:18.76 currently ranks 15th in all of NCAA Division III.

Harry Dudley finished second on the team with a time of 14:47.85 which landed 24th in the field of 121 runners. Noah Nelsen and James Murray both finished in the top-50 and Ryan Courtney placed 72nd. Dudley and Murray's times were both career-bests.
