Kalinay posts nation’s No. 7 time to lead Storm at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa — Dylan Kalinay ran the seventh-fastest time in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles and the 4x200-meter relay team brought home a first-place finish to lead the Simpson men's track and field team. The Storm had nine, top-five finishes in their fourth meet of the indoor season.

Davey Jurgens added a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash, Travis Tupper and Jordan Coughenour took third in the 200 and 400-meters, Ian McKenzie and Isaiah Strong also added third-place finishes, Austin Greenwalt finished fifth in the 600-meters, and the 4x400-meter relay team took third.

The 4x200 relay team of Travis Tupper, Troy Vittetoe, Jordan Coughenour, and Kirk Wicks finished in 1:32.79 to edge St.Thomas (Minn.) at the line to place first.

Kalinay won the 60 hurdles for the second straight meet, running 8.17 in the finals to edge Charlie Gifford of Wisconsin-Platteville. Kailany set his career-best time in this event, which currently ties him for fifth in Division III.

Jurgens ran 7.29 in the finals to take fifth, just .04 seconds off his career-best. He ran 7.32 in the prelims.

Tupper ran 23.12 in the 200-meters to finish third behind Steed of Dubuque and Frei of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Coughenour ran 50.80 in the 400-meters to take third behind Colfay of Dubuque and Mueller of St.Thomas (Minn.). McKenzie also added a third-place finish in the 3000-meters.

Strong took home third-place jumping 6-03.25 in the high jump. Strong improved upon his mark of 6-00.75 he posted last week at UNI. Austin Greenwalt added a fifth place finish in the 600-meters, crossing the line in 1:26.65.
