Storm set to compete in Liberal Arts Championships

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Cedar Rapids on Thursday to begin the three-day Liberal Arts Championships, hosted by Coe College.

"We are excited to finish the season on a high note," said head coach Tom Caccia. "It has been a strange year, but the team has done really well this season to prepare for this weekend."

Loras will join the Storm and Kohawks, while Luther hosts Nebraska Wesleyan at the other Liberal Arts Championships site.

The student-athletes set to compete for Simpson are; Madison DePover, Katie Cardoza, Katie Oosterhuis, Sarah Prendergast, Alyssa Harris, Caroline Oberg, Riley Reece and Blake Kakacek.

The 800-yard freestyle relay of Prendergast, DePover, Cardoza and Oosterhuis will start the championships for the Storm on Thursday.

Friday will consist of the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard individual medley, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle and the men's 100-yard backstroke.

Simpson will compete in the women's 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle, 1650-yard freestyle, and the men's 200-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle races to end the event on Saturday.
