MBB Preview: Storm visit Dubuque for A-R-C showdown

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's basketball team will take on Dubuque for the second time this season on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Dubuque.

The Storm (1-4, 1-2 A-R-C) recently picked up their first win of the season in an 80-61 victory over Central on Wednesday. The Spartans (7-0, 3-0 A-R-C) remained perfect after a 99-91 win over Loras. Dubuque is currently receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top-10 Poll.

DUBUQUE ATTENDANCE POLICY
Spectators will be limited to two people for each student-athlete, coach, or staff member. Spectators will need to check-in at the entrance to confirm names on the pass list. Seating for spectators will be designated. All UD athletic facilities are closed to the general public and if your name is not on the pass list, you will not be allowed to stay for the competition. During basketball doubleheaders, Stoltz Sports Center will be cleared after the first game for cleaning before spectators will be allowed inside for the second contest.

The two teams matchup for the 157th time on Saturday as Simpson looks to break away from a three-game losing skid to Dubuque ... after falling to the Spartans twice last season, the Storm fell 84-65 on Jan. 23 in a nonconference game against Dubuque ... sophomore Andrew Curran tallied a career-high 17 points to go along with five rebounds.

Dubuque is receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top-10 Poll after starting the year with a 7-0 record and is currently 3-0 in league play to sit atop the A-R-C standings ... the offense is scoring 89.4 points per game for 11th in the nation and the defense is allowing 70.0 points per outing to hold the 10th-best scoring margin in the country of 19.4 ... three players are scoring in double figures for Dubuque: Patrick Mayfield (18.1), Peter Ragen (15.9) and Sam Kilburg (14.1).

LAST TIME OUT
The Storm captured their first win of the season on Wednesday in a 80-61 victory over Central ... Simpson broke out of a scoring slump by having 12 players record a point to help reach the 80-point mark for the first time in five games ... the Dutch owned a small 4-0 lead through the first 90 seconds of play, but the Storm charged back with a 7-0 run to never fall behind again ... junior Deontei Johnson and sophomore Collin Lister both tallied 13 points, while junior Bryce Yoder added eight off the bench.
