Storm let lead slip in opener, fall twice to Wartburg

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Drew Carlson, Trenten Kingrey, and Matthew Florence combined for seven RBIs in the opener but the Simpson College baseball team fell twice to Wartburg on Saturday in American Rivers Conference action.

In game one, the Storm (6-10, 1-2 A-R-C) held a 5-3 lead through seven innings before the Knights (8-6, 2-1 A-R-C) rallied for nine runs in the eighth and five more in the ninth, handing Simpson a 17-9 defeat. Carlson launched a two-run homer, Kingrey roped a pair of RBI doubles, and Florence contributed an RBI triple along with a bases-loaded walk.

Wartburg controlled the series finale behind a dominant outing from Emerson Alberhasky, who struck out 13 in 8.0 innings en route to a 9-1 win.
