Storm baseball releases 2020 slate

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- As the Simpson baseball season approaches, head coach Nathan Roling has announced the 2020 schedule that features three opponents that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2019.

The Storm embark on their season opener with a trip to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. for a doubleheader with Bethel on Feb. 26. The twin bill has a unique start time at 10 p.m., as the second game begins in the early hours of the next day.

On March 7-8, Simpson takes on Westminster for a four-game set spread over the two days for a brief warmup before the spring trip to Florida. The Storm's spring break trip begins on March 12 against Wells in Auburndale, Fla. Illinois Wesleyan awaits Simpson on March 13 before a doubleheader against Bowdoin on March 15. Contests against Minnesota-Morris and McDaniel close out the week in the Sunshine State.

American Rivers Conference play follows shortly after returning from Florida with a weekend series at Buena Vista on March 20-21. The Beavers earned a spot in the 2019 NCAA Regional Tournament and tallied one win at the event. A-R-C play is put on pause with doubleheader against Iowa Wesleyan on the 25th, which is the home opener for Simpson. On the 26th, the Storm travel to Cornell for the last nonconference games of the season. The Rams won the Midwest Conference Tournament last season to advance to the NCAA Regional for the first time in program history.

League competition resumes in full on the 31st against Nebraska Wesleyan to start off a stretch of five-straight home contests, including a weekend series with Wartburg on April 3-4. The Prairie Wolves host the Storm on the 7th to end the season series before traveling to Coe on April 10-11. The Kohawks had an impressive season in 2019 after claiming a spot in the NCAA Super Regionals and enter 2020 ranked No. 11 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's Division III Preseason Poll.

Simpson returns home for a single game against Central on the 14th and wait until that weekend for a three-game set at McBride Field with Loras. The Storm travel to Pella, Iowa to end the season series with the Dutch on the 21st and then host Dubuque from the 24-25 to end the month. Luther plays host on May 1-2 to end the regular season for Simpson.

The A-R-C Tournament begins on May 7 on Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
