Storm fall to Concordia, Coe

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Simpson baseball team dropped a pair of games at the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational on Wednesday, losing to Concordia-Chicago 8-4 and Coe 10-0.

The Storm (5-6) had won five of six on their Spring Break trip.

Concordia 8, Simpson 4
The Cougars used a four-run second inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Tyler Crandell went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Tyler Pawletzki went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Simpson used five pitchers with Aaron Young shouldering the loss in two innings of work. Bobby Beelen allowed four hits in seven innings for Concordia.

Coe 10, Simpson 0
The Storm managed only six hits in the loss, getting two each from Crandell and Pawletzki. Eric Jones suffered the loss, surrendering five hits and two runs in four innings on the mound. Leading 3-0 after six innings, the Kohawks pulled away with four runs in the seventh.
