CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Simpson baseball team built a 10-1 lead but couldn't hold on, losing to Westminster 13-10 on Sunday, the final day of the Ozarks Baseball Classic.
Simpson scored seven runs in the first inning and three in the third, building a nine-run advantage after four innings.
Jake Barr went 3-for-6 with four RBIs and a three-run homer, Tyler Craig hit a three-run homer and Grant Thomas had a double and three RBIs for the Storm (0-3).
Westminster held Simpson scoreless after the third inning, scoring six in the fifth and five in the sixth en-route to 12 unanswered runs.
Matt Mallette, Danton Hughes and Nick Genettie all had three RBIs for the Blue Jays (1-2).
Chris Dorff (0-2) took the loss, allowing 12 runs in five innings. Ben Eyck (1-1) earned the win in one inning of relief work.
The Storm are off until their Spring Break trip to the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational on March 3-9.
