22 named to IIAC Spring All-Academic Team
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Twenty-two Simpson student-athletes competing in spring sports earned a spot on the 2014-15 Iowa Conference All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and sustain a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
The 22 student-athletes who earned a spot on the team averaged a lofty 3.75 GPA, well above the minimum requirement. The NCAA-qualifying softball team led the way with eight selections, followed by women's track and field with five. Four memebers of the men's track and field team made the cut along with three men's tennis players. One men's golfer and one baseball player landed on the team.
In all, Storm student-athletes took home 91 IIAC All-Academic accolades in 2014-15: 52 in the fall, 17 in the winter and 22 in the spring.
