Bob Darrah memorial service date set

The family of Bob Darrah welcomes you to attend a memorial service to celebrate the life of Darrah on Friday, March 1, inside Cowles Fieldhouse at 10:30 a.m.

Darrah led the Simpson women's golf team for 23 years, which included nine Iowa Conference Championships and 15 national tournament appearances from 1989-2012. Among his list of accomplishments at the helm of the program, Darrah had nine conference medalists, four All-Americans and had two, national runner-up finishes.

When he first started at Simpson, Darrah also held the reigns as head wrestling coach. From 1989-95 he posted a dual record of 86-25-1, leading the team to an Iowa Conference Championship in 1991. He coached five All-Americans during his tenure, including two-time national champion Travis Young.

Darrah was inducted into Simpson's Coaches Hall of Fame in 2012 and received recognition as Iowa Conference Coach of the Year on 12 occasions.

Prior to his time at Simpson, Darrah established himself as the winningest wrestling coach in Iowa High School dual meet history. He posted an incredible 340-17-2 record in 30 seasons while leading the programs at Morning Sun, Urbandale and West Des Moines Dowling Catholic.

Darrah passed away on away on Monday, Nov. 26 at the age of 89.
