INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson volleyball team closed the Simpson Quadrangular on Saturday with a sweep over Wisconsin-River Falls inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
In the opener, the Storm (8-8) fell 3-0 to highly-ranked Saint Benedict. Simpson was able to avenge its 3-0 loss to Wisconsin-River Falls from earlier in the season on Saturday, Sept. 21 with a thrilling sweep to finish the weekend 2-1.
Hannah Lester led the offense with 20 kills on the day and Niya Harris helped the attack with 13. Alyssa Mathews had 53 assists and Ariana Martinez produced 31 digs.
Harris and Martinez were named to the Simpson Quadrangular All-Tournament team for their performances during the team's three contests.

Set Scores: 25-14, 25-13, 25-13
During the Storm's first contest of the day, Saint Benedict showed why its one of the top teams in the country. The Bennies sprinted out to a demanding 10-4 lead and never looked back to win 25-14 in the first set. Saint Benedict would take the next two sets, 25-13, 25-13 to sweep.
The Storm had a .000 hitting clip, while the visitors hit .315 near the net. Harris had seven of her 13 kills in the match. Mathews tallied 19 assists for the match.

Set Scores: 25-21, 25-20, 25-23
In the Quadrangular finale, the Storm obtained their second sweep in as many days. Simpson and the Cardinals kept it close throughout the first set. It was tied until 20-20, but the Storm went on a 5-1 run to win the opener, 25-21.
Simpson was able to get a little breathing room in the second set, this time going out in front, 10-5. The Storm were able to move the set to 20-13 and would win, 25-20 with an ace from Mathews.
The third set provided some excitmente for the crowd. Wisconsin-River Falls led the majority of the set and had a two-point tilt at 23-21. Harris spiked an attack to turn the tide and bring the team to within one and the Storm defense held tight to force three straight errors to win, 25-23.
Lester finished with 16 kills and Kamryn Juni had 10. Mathews dished out 34 assists and Martinez had 17 digs from the back row.
