Harris provides offense against Wis.-River Falls

GRINNELL, Iowa -- In the final match of the Central/Grinnell Invitational, the Simpson volleyball team fell 3-0 to Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday in Grinnell, Iowa to finish the Invitational at 2-1.

Alyssa Mathews was her usual self from her setter position with 27 assists and also produced eight digs to help the defense. Niya Harris led the Storm (6-6) offense with 11 kills.

The Falcons (10-6) took the first set with ease by a score of 25-14. Wis.-River Falls hit .429 with 16 kills and held Simpson to a .111 hitting clip and 10 kills. The Storm ramped their play up in the second set with 15 kills and forced a few extra set points, but it ended 28-26 in favor of the Falcons.

In the third set, Simpson tallied 12 kills and its best hitting percentage of the game with a .175. After two ties and one lead change, Wis.-River Falls would clinch the match with a 25-20 win.

The Storm had trouble hitting over the Falcons' wall as they had eight attacks blocked during the contest.
