Simpson places sixth at Morningside

SIOUX CITY - The Simpson women's swimming team placed sixth of six teams at the Morningside Mustang Invitational on Saturday.

The Storm scored 288 point in the first invitational of the season. Morningside won the meet with 738 points, followed by Nebraska-Kearney (571.5), Coe (562), Iowa Central CC (459.5) and St. Mary (288).

"I am proud of the way the team performed after a tough week of practice," head coach Aaron Strain said. "They showed amazing resiliency and an incredibly positive attitude. This was a great early season meet."

Simpson's best performances came from Keely Goshia and Catherine Mayes. Goshia took third in the 100-yard backstroke and fifth in the 200-yard IM. Mayes turned in three top-five performances, taking third in the 200 backstroke, fifth in the 500 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke.

Simpson returns to action Friday, Nov. 19 when it travels to Loras for a dual with the Duhawks.
