Storm Fall to No. 10 Cornell

MT. VERNON - Simpson opened the Iowa Conference dual season Tuesday with a 43-0 loss to tenth-ranked Cornell.

Third-year head coach Clint Manny and the Storm (0-1 IIAC) featured a lineup that included five freshmen, squaring off against an experienced Cornell team.

Senior 174-pounder Jordy Ammons gave Simpson it's best chance, dropping a 4-2 decision against Derek Munsey. Fresh off a second-place finish at last weekend's Knox Invitational, freshman 165-pounder Justin Bruce fell in a tough, 7-2 decision against Joe Hambleton.

Jeff Sand - the fourth-place finisher in the Iowa Conference at 133 pounds a year ago - dropped a hard-fought 10-5 match against Tigue Snider.

The Storm return to action this weekend when they head to the highly competitive Augsburg Invitational in Minneapolis.
