Storm sit sixth after day one of league championships

AMES, Iowa -- Day one of the American Rivers Conference Championship came to a close on Saturday with the Simpson women's golf team sitting in sixth with a team score of 365, just one stroke behind fifth-place Buena Vista.

Senior Emily Jansen fired an 86 for her lowest score this season to start the three-day event at Ames Country Club in a tie for 15th. Jansen's classmate Megan Crockett notched a career low after shooting a 90 to land in a tie for 21st.

Following the order of Jansen and Crockett, freshman Sydney Stephenson earned a season-low 93. Junior Averi Peck tallied a 96 and freshman Hannah Mulligan rounds out the scoring for the Storm with a 119.

Day two will begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow as Mulligan tees off first for the squad. Peck will follow, then Stephenson, Crockett and Jansen.
