Storm women tally fifth at Simpson Invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson women's golf team earned its best finish this season with a fifth-place showing in front of its home crowd at the Indianola Country Club on Wednesday.

During their own invitational, the Storm carded a 392 while playing through strong wind conditions. Iowa Lakes Community College finished first with Waldorf and Grand View ending second and third, respectively.

After shooting a career low last match for Simpson, senior Megan Crockett kept the momentum going by tying that mark with another 95 to tie for 17th. Freshman Sydney Stephenson clubbed a 97 to miss out on her career best by two strokes to land in a tie for 24th.

Senior Emily Jansen and junior Averi Peck both shot a 100 to draw in 27th, and freshman Hannah Mulligan rounded out the team score for the Storm in 46th.

Simpson remains close to home on Monday for the Des Moines Area Community College Invitational in Ames, Iowa at the Ames Country Club. The DMACC Invite will serve as the last warmup for the Storm as the American Rivers Conference Championships will take place from Oct. 10-12 on the same course.
