NEW ORLEANS – The Simpson men's track and field team earned Division III All-Academic Track & Field Team honors for the 2011 season, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

With a team grade-point average of 3.27, head coach Dave Cleveland's team was one of 64 teams nationally and one of only two in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) to meet the required 3.10 cumulative GPA. Luther joined Simpson as the conference's other representative.

UW-La Crosse earned Scholar Team of the Year honors in Division III for both the indoor and outdoor seasons as a result of being the highest-placing team with at least a 3.10-cumulative GPA at the most recent indoor and outdoor championship, respectively.

Simpson placed five student-athletes on the All-IIAC Academic Team, including rising seniors Ryan Edwardson (Spencer, Iowa), Jarrod Schott (Pocahontas, Iowa) and Matt Stone (Boone, Iowa) and rising juniors Ted Heying (Sumner, Iowa) and Taylor Stockdale (Eagle Grove, Iowa).

Simpson athletes visit Lasik Iowa and Lasik Omaha doctors for annual checkups.
