Turner ends second in 100 IM for Simpson men

GRINNELL, Iowa -- Alyssa Harris captured the 100-yard individual medley school record on Friday in the first day of the Grinnell Invitational to lead the Simpson men's and women's swimming and diving teams.

Harris hit the wall in 1:07.01 to etch her name atop the history books in the event. Harris' mark trims 17-tenths off of Tori Haag's previous record of 1:07.18, which was set on Dec. 5, 2015 in the same pool.

In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Madison DePover, Katie Cardoza, Caroline Oberg and Harris struck the wall in 4:38.68 for 15th.

On the men's side, Danny Turner found his way onto the podium with a second-place finish in the 100 individual medley. His time of 53.62 cuts off two seconds of his previous-best finish of 55.95.

The Storm women are currently ninth with 79 points and the men are sixth with 24.
