Men fall to Morningside in season opener

OMAHA, Neb -- The Simpson men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed for the first team this season against Morningside and College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Neb. Friday evening.

The Storm lost to Morningside, 177-14, while the women lost to the Mustangs, 157-39, and to the Flames, 131-41.

Sarah Prendergast tallied the best result for Simpson with a second-place nod in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.09. Katie Cardoza grabbed third in the 1,000 freestyle and Alyssa Harris produced a third-place mark in the 200 individual medley. Harris also notched a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.

The quartet of Madison DePover, Riley Reece, Caroline Oberg and Alyssa Harris ended third in the 200 medley relay. The group of Prendergast, Cardoza, Knowler and Reece tallied fourth in the 200 freestyle relay.

On the men's side, Danny Turner hit the wall in 1:04.16 to claim second in the 100 breaststroke. Turner added another high placing with third in the 200 individual medley. Austin Andes earned third in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle.
