Storm men compete at McMurry University

ABILENE, Texas -- Simpson swimming and diving traveled to McMurry University on Thursday as the women highlighted the afternoon with four wins, but fell to McMurry, 100-57. The men's side came up short as well, 96-27.

The Simpson women started and ended hot, winning the first and last events of the meet. The first event was the 200 medley relay that featured Alyssa Harris, Madison DePover, Katie Cardoza and Caroline Oberg. The relay finished in a time of 2:05.38, beating McMurry's relay by over three seconds.

A different quartet of Angela Eppens, Oberg, Harris and DePover took home gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in under two minutes (1:58.77) to end the meet for the women.

Oberg and Harris clipped individual wins in addition to their relay success. In the 50-yard freestyle, Oberg hit the wall in a blazing time of 27.61. Harris' time of 1:07.51 earned her first place in the 100-yard backstroke. Both Cardoza and DePover tallied second-place nods for the Storm.

Danny Turner added another 100-yard breaststroke victory to his collegiate career with a time of 1:02.49. Turner broke the school record for the event last month in a blistering 59.43 seconds. Blake Kakacek and Turner both added two second-place finishes in their respective races.
