Pair of all-arounders claim USAG All-American honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Michelangelo Villani and Sterling Pariza secured All-America honors as all-around competitors on Friday at the USA Gymnastics Championships hosted by Air Force.

Villani placed fifth overall with a season-high score of 73.250, while Pariza claimed the final All-American spot with a 73.050. This is Villani's second straight All-American recognition as an all-around competitor.

Pariza, who achieved All-American honors on floor in 2023, was one of four Storm gymnasts to officially qualify for the event finals taking place tomorrow afternoon. Pariza qualified as a finalist on parallel bars, while Brian Rollison advanced to the rings finals and Milo Staley and Villani each advanced on vault. Jake Sweeten (pommel horse) and Alex Catchpole (parallel bars) have been named alternates.

The Storm recorded a 358.850 as a unit, finishing in sixth place.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

Michelangelo Villani earned his second straight All-American distinction as an all-around competitor with a season-high score of 73.250. His day was highlighted by a career-high 12.800 on floor.
Sterling Pariza finished sixth in the all-around highlighted by a team-leading 13.300 on parallel bars.
Milo Staley finished the day with an all-around mark of 71.650, leading the Storm on vault with a career-high 14.100. He also had the top mark of Simpson's scoring lineup on floor, a season-best 12.500.
Jake Sweeten (12.600) set a new career high on pommel horse.

UP NEXT
The gymnasts that qualified for the event finals will compete at 4 p.m. tomorrow with the goal of achieving All-American status as a top 6 placewinner.
