Men's golf finishes in middle of pack at Midwest Region Classic

GALENA, Ill. — Korbin Sesker, Andrew Lallier and Cameron Stump tied atop the Storm leaderboard as the Simpson men's golf team placed 19th of 32 teams at the Midwest Region Classic held this weekend at Eagle Ridge Resort.

The trio of Sesker, Lallier and Stump all shot 162 for the weekend, tying for 67th in the field of nearly 200 golfers. The Storm shot 652 as a team, five strokes behind Illinois College.

Luther won the team race by two strokes over Augustana and Wisconsin-Stout's Dylan Kline won individual medalist honors, shooting even-par 144.

Lallier posted the team's low score Saturday, carding an 81 out of the gates. He closed with another 81 Sunday. Sesker showed the most improvement from day one to day two, shaving six strokes off Saturday's 84 to post the team's low score for the tournament with a 78. Stump opened with an 82 and finished the tournament with an 80.

Nick Hartman shot back-to-back 83s to tie for 100th with 166. Ben Butler shot 174 over 36 holes, tying for 137th.

The Storm go to the Grand View Viking Classic on Oct. 3-4 which will be held at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.
