High-scoring offense not enough in men's basketball loss

LINCOLN, Neb. - A remarkable offensive effort by the Simpson men's basketball team couldn't overcome Nebraska Wesleyan as the Storm lost 110-97 in the final game of the Snyder Classic on Saturday.

Trey Bardsley finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double and the Prairie Wolves (2-3) made 23 3-pointers. Bardsley made a game-high 6 3s, finishing with 26 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds.

Dillon Gretzky scored a season-high 25 points, Austin Turner handed out eight assists and Simpson made 14 3-pointers as a team in the loss.

Charles Swain scored 17 points and Ryan Skaar added 17 off the bench as the Storm (3-4) lost their third straight.

Simpson's 14 3-pointers are the second most in school history, surpassing the 13 triples Simpson hit against William Penn on Tuesday. The 97 points scored by the Storm are the most against an opponent not named Grinnell since scoring 100 against Crown in December 2009.

Following his 10-for-17 effort from the field, Gretzky earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
