Hoskins era begins with night game on Sept. 2

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Simpson College football team kicks off its first season under head coach Reed Hoskins on Sept. 2 when it hosts Augustana (Ill.) for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Buxton Stadium.

The Storm, who were picked to finish eighth in the American Rivers Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, will play four other home games in 2023, all against teams predicted to fill the top four spots in league standings.

NEW LEADERSHIP

  • Reed Hoskins was hired as the new head coach of the program on Dec. 12, 2022.
  • He came to Indianola after spending seven seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Illinois Wesleyan, helping guide the Titans to a 41-22 record and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin titles in 2017 and 2018.
  • Prior to Illinois Wesleyan, Hoskins was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wis.-La Crosse from 2011-15 and the passing game coordinator, quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at his alma mater, Wartburg, from 2008-11.
  • Hoskins also had coaching stints with St. Cloud State (2007-08) and North Carolina Wesleyan (2006-07).
