Kelley joins Storm football coaching staff

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson head football coach Matt Jeter is pleased to announce the hire of Dan Kelley to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2019 football season.

Kelley comes from NAIA National Champion, Morningside College, and will serve as the offensive line coach and a recruiting coordinator for the Storm.

"We are fired up to welcome coach Kelley to the Storm family," Jeter said. "Coach Kelley is a man of high character, an outstanding teacher and a great recruiter. He will bring an edge to the offensive line and football program as we take that next to step to build a championship culture at Simpson College."

While at Morningside from 2015-18, the Mustangs garnered an overall record of 50-5 under Kelley's tutelage of the offensive line. During the 2018 campaign, Morningside ranked first in total pass offense (5,655), in pass offense per game (377.0), pass efficiency (192.4), first downs per game (28.3), total offense yards per game (562.2) and total scoring offense (789). The squad also ranked in the top 10 in several other offensive categories during the season.

Prior to joining the coaching staff for the Mustangs, Kelley was a tight ends and running backs coach at Millikin University in 2014.

Kelley is no stranger to the Storm or Indianola community, as he graduated in 2013 with a degree in history from Simpson. Kelley was an assistant offensive line coach during the 2013 season for the Storm and earned three letters while competing inside Bill Buxton Stadium for Simpson. Kelley was an IIAC First Team All-Conference selection in 2012.

A native of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Kelley will live in Indianola with his wife, Shelby.
