Holmes named all-region

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Simpson safety Brendan Holmes earned all-region honors for the first time in his career as the sophomore was named to the 2017 D3football.com All-West Region Third Team.

Holmes had a team-high six interceptions in 2017 to go along with 89 tackles, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and three pass breakups. He tied for second in the Iowa Conference in interceptions and his 0.6 interceptions per game ranked 19th in Division III.

The Atlantic, Iowa native is the first Simpson defensive back to earn D3football.com All-Region honors. He was also named to the All-Iowa Conference First Team.
