Cannon, Obermark rank top 10 in latest NWCA poll

MANHEIM, Pa. – Sophomore Ashley Cannon and freshman Annelise Obermark were both ranked ninth in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Poll, giving Simpson four points as a team to tie for 22nd in the nation.

Cannon is currently 15-1 at 124 pounds, with her only loss being to Shelby Moore of McKendree, who is ranked third in the weight class. Cannon has four pins and seven technical falls. She claimed first place at the Luther Hill Invite, Luther Open, and 8 Women Battle.

Obermark has gone 13-2 at 145 pounds thus far, winning the Luther Open and finishing runner-up at the Luther Hill Invite. Like Cannon, she has tallied four pins and seven technical falls.

About the NWCA NCAA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Poll
The NWCA uses tournament poll methodology for the NCAA Women's Coaches Rankings. The poll is determined by Tournament Power Index (TPI) point totals, which are broken down by individual rankings directly correlated to the placement points at the NCWW Championships: 1st=16pts, 2nd=12pts, 3rd=10pts, 4th=9pts, 5th=7pts, 6th=6pts, 7th=4pts, 8th=3pts, 9ths=2pts, 10th=1pt.
