Simpson leads 8 Women Battle with six champions
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Winning six of 11 brackets, the Simpson College women's wrestling team had another successful outing at the 8 Women Battle hosted by Wis.-Eau Claire.
The Storm won weight classes 103, 117, 124, 131B, 138 and 160 to lead all teams with six champions. Augustana (Ill.) and Wis.-Stevens Point both had two individual champions, and Wis.-Oshkosh had one.
Along with six champions, Simpson had six wrestlers finish runner-up and three others take third place.
INDIVIDUAL TITLES
- Emma Wissman (103) registered a meet-high three pins, capturing all three in the first period.
- Jalynn Goodale (117) won her second tournament title of the season via two 10-0 technical falls as well as a pin over teammate Ella Weber in 2:24.
- Ashley Cannon (124) improved to 15-1 this season with a pin, a 12-2 technical fall and a 14-5 decision. This is her third individual title of the year.
- Hannah Hernandez (131) went 4-0 for her first collegiate title. She earned two pins, a forfeit and a 2-1 decision.
- Paige Gershmel (138) claimed her second title of the year behind a 10-3 decision and back-to-back pins in the semifinal and final.
- Keeley Kehrli (160) cruised through the quarterfinals and semifinals with a pair of first period pins before beating teammate Breanna Weir 11-0 for the 160-pound crown.

Simpson has Thanksgiving week off and will return to action at home against Augustana on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
