Martinez earns All-A-R-C Honorable Mention honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- After capping off her senior season by finishing fifth in the league in digs, Simpson College volleyball's Ariana Martinez has been named to the All-American Rivers Conference Honorable Mention squad, the conference announced Thursday.

The defensive specialist played all eight matches this spring and averaged 4.66 digs per set for sixth in the A-R-C with 149 total digs. The Canyon Lake, Texas native finished her career with 1,368 career digs in 87 matches played.

This season, Martinez had four matches with at least 20 digs, including a season-high 31 against Central on Feb. 23. She dished out 42 assists and finished with a double-double of 22 digs and 13 assists against Nebraska Wesleyan on March 10.

Simpson finished the season 2-6 overall and in the A-R-C under first-year head coach Kekailoa Palea.
